Current Make-up

I am less than faithful to my make-up. I chop and change and it takes me a long time and a lot of products to find a decent routine. Here is my current make-up and some mini reviews to go with it.

The Face
This is a really good powder for the oily skinned out there. Be warned that it looks pretty rubbish at first, but once it's absorbed the oil it looks great. I've hit pan on this but I think I'm going to shop around until I commit to repurchasing a powder. I may be looking for something more finely milled next time.

Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer
I wish I loved this but I'm just using it to use it up right now. I thought it would mimic Collection's Lasting Perfection's thick and creamy formula, but it's not as thick and offers nowhere near as much coverage. It does the job and it feels quite luxurious, but it doesn't cover dark circles well and to be honest it wears off quite quickly. Shame as it was one of my more indulgent purchases.

Garnier BB Cream
As you may have seen in my July favourites, I am loving this as my foundation right now. It's super creamy and surprisingly thick. I'm definitely late on the bandwagon here, but this hot summer has had me reaching for this more and more. My skin matches perfectly with 'Light', and while it doesn't create an airbrushed finish, my skin is even and glowing.

Soap and Glory Solar Powder
This is a well raved about bronzer, and it is lovely for adding warmth to the face. My only bug bear is that it is slightly too orange for me, so it's not great for contouring. I love the lighter shade but the darker colour is just slightly off, and kind of merges with my blush, which I'm sure it's not meant to do. I do like it but at the same time I kind of don't.

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
A great, solid and reliable concealer that does what it says on the tin and more. Silly me got slightly the wrong shade - perhaps I should have gone medium cool instead of medium warm - but this offers such good coverage that I just have to use it. I find that mixed with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer, it works reasonably well.

The Tools
Don't laugh. This is actually a decent brush. It's soft and it applies blush and powder really well. It has also managed to stay incredibly clean since it's in my possession. At only £3 it was a complete steal. I want the Real Techniques one...but this one is a fraction of the price.

Despite its ability to shed occasionally, this is a super little brush. It's soft and has lasted ages, and it makes my eye shadow look semi-decent. At £1.95 I can't complain at all.

Ha. No way is this a concealer brush. It is hard as a rock and absolutely tiny. But it does wonders as my eyebrow brush. Again, cheap and cheerful and not fit for purpose, but as a pauper I'm all for improvising.

e.l.f. Powder Brush
I've had this and used it for yonks and it's brilliant. Super soft, easy to wash and excellent for applying powder. I like how it is light coloured as it's easy to see when it's due a wash.

Not much to say about this apart from that it does the job of curling my lashes. Winner.

I have a love hate relationship with this sponge: when I use it to apply foundation it simply absorbs it all and I seem to use twice as much product, but when I use it to apply a powder it creates a beautiful, matte finish. Mixed feelings but I'd like to find a foundation that it really works with.

The Eyes
Max Factor Masterpiece Glide and Define Liquid Eyeliner
I'm liking but not loving this: it goes on well and it lasts a long time, but I just wish it was easier to do a cat eye. It takes a while to do, but for the meantime it does do the job.

Barry M Natural Glow Shadow and Blush Palette
This is a good little palette, but there's only one colour I really use. The matte shades are really nothing to get excited about, but the shimmer shades are creamy and quite well pigmented. It wants to be a Naked but it just isn't.

Maybelline The Falsies Black Drama Mascara
A good mascara for building volume but the huge brush can be problematic with the bottom lashes. As Maybelline mascaras go, this is currently my favourite, especially when paired with...

Max Factor Masterpiece Max Mascara
My favourite make-up product at this moment in time. A great little brush and a lovely formula, I've got no real complaints about this. A bit on the pricey side but if my memory serves me correctly it does last a while.

Soap and Glory Lid Stuff
You can tell I've loved one of the colours in here. I use the ash-y brown colour for my brows and it is absolutely perfect. The one shimmer colour is beautiful but a little dark for all over the lid. The light pinky-peach colour is lovely as well and works well to cover up veiny lids, but I've not found much use for the lighter shade.

And I put all my everyday make-up in this cute bag, which Dave bought me as a gift. It's super cute and really hardwearing as it just wipes down. It also has a really cute tail thing as a zip.

Thanks for reading and I hope you've enjoyed today's contribution to the inter web.
